MTR VEHICLE/DRIVER LIC: Authorizes a fee increase for the issuance and renewal of
certain identification cards
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 32:412(C), relative to cards issued by the Department of Public
3 Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, that are used for identification
4 purposes; to establish fees; to provide for the distribution of revenue; and to provide
5 for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 32:412(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
8 ยง412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation;
9 disabled veteran designation; university logo; "I'm a Cajun" designation;
10 needs accommodation designation; disbursement of funds; renewal by mail
11 or electronic commerce of Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses; disposition of
12 certain fees; exception

14 C. Every applicant for a Class "A", "B", "C", "D", or "E" driver's license or
15 renewal of a Class "A", "B", "C", "D", or "E" driver's license shall pay, in addition
16 to any other fee imposed by law, a fee of two dollars and seventy-five cents which
17 shall be paid by the department to the Louisiana Emergency Response Network.

19 Section 2. The Louisiana State Law Institute is hereby authorized and directed to
20redesignate R.S. 32:412(C) through (P), as designated prior to the enactment of this Act, as
21R.S. 32:412(D) through (Q).

Abstract: Requires every applicant for a driver's license or renewal of a driver's license to
pay an additional fee.
Proposed law requires that every applicant for a Class "A", "B", "C", "D", or "E" driver's
license or renewal of a Class "A", "B", "C", "D", or "E" driver's license pay, in addition to
any other fee imposed by present law, a fee of $2.75 which must be paid by the department
to the La. Emergency Response Network.
Directs the La. State Law Institute to redesignate R.S. 32:412(C) through (P), as designated
prior to the enactment of this Act, as R.S. 32:412(D) through (Q).
