1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1665.4(A), relative to law enforcement officers; to provide
3 for the purchase of a duty firearm by the family of certain law enforcement officers;
4 to provide for certain criteria; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1665.4(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง1665.4.  Duty firearm of deceased law enforcement officer killed in line of duty
8	A.  An immediate family member listed in Subsection B of this Section of a
9 law enforcement officer as defined by R.S. 40:1665.2(B)(1), (2), and (3), and (18)
10 who suffers death as a result of an injury arising out of and in the course of the
11 performance of his official duties as a law enforcement officer has the right of first
12 refusal to purchase his duty firearm at fair market value, subject to the approval of
13 the head of the law enforcement agency, unless the family member is prohibited
14 from possessing a firearm under the provisions of R.S. 14:95.1 or any other state or
15 federal law.
