ACT 324 (HB 69) 2019 Regular Session Zeringue
Existing law creates and provides for the membership of the 15-member La. State Board of
Dentistry.
New law requires that the appointee to At-Large Seat C on the board be one of the following
types of licensed dentist:
(1)A board-eligible or board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
(2)A board-eligible or board-certified dental anesthesiologist.
(3)A dentist who has comparable training and expertise, as defined by the La. State
Board of Dentistry, in deep sedation and anesthesia.
New law provides that the board member serving in At-Large Seat C prior to the new
qualifications for that seat being instituted shall continue to serve for the remainder of his
term as a temporary appointment. Provides that this member shall serve in addition to the
board member appointed to serve in At-Large Seat C pursuant to the provisions of new law.
New law stipulates that during the period of the temporary appointment created by new law,
the board shall be composed of 16 members; and that upon the conclusion of the term of the
temporary appointment, the number of board members shall revert to 15 as provided in
existing law.
Effective upon signature of governor (June 11, 2019).
