COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HENSGENS,
HEWITT, JOHNS, LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU, MARTINY,
MILKOVICH, MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK,
PETERSON, PRICE, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER,
THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD, AND WHITE
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To recognize Wednesday, May 1, 2019, as Y Day in Louisiana and to commend Louisiana's
YMCAs for dedication to families in the state.
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs are committed to nurturing the potential of
children, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
unite its leaders and staff as a movement and guide their behavior, interactions with each
other, and decisionmaking; and
WHEREAS, more than one hundred thousand children and adults throughout the
state of Louisiana have access, through local YMCAs, to the essentials necessary to learn,
grow, and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated, community-
based strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide developmental programs for youth and to strengthen families throughout the state;
and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs mobilize and coordinate broad efforts to support
children and families through partnerships that meet community needs; and

WHEREAS, on May 1, 2019, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs are meeting
with legislators at the state capitol to discuss and exchange ideas on issues facing youth and
families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize Wednesday, May 1, 2019, as Y Day in Louisiana and does hereby commend the
members, staff, and volunteers of Louisiana's YMCAs for their dedication to families
throughout the state.  
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.
