HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 121
BY REPRESENTATIVE LACOMBE AND SENATOR WARD
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee softball team upon winning the
2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division IV state championship.
WHEREAS, the Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee Lady Hornets softball team
completed a sensational 2019 season, earning the title of Division IV state champions; and
WHEREAS, the second-seeded Lady Hornets's victory over No. 1 seed Ouachita
Christian on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Frasch Park in Sulphur was the third state title for
Catholic High School of Point Coupee since 2013, and it was a display of excellent
athleticism from start to finish:  in the first two innings, the Lady Hornets powered in six
runs, and by the end of the game, pitcher Blaire Bizette had struck out nine Ouachita
Christian Eagles and gone three for three with a solo home run, a triple, and four runs batted
in, and she scored four runs; the Lady Hornets held off a late comeback attempt by Ouachita
Christian to "Finish It", the Lady Hornets' motto, with a 9-4 victory to gain the state title; and
WHEREAS, Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee completed its season with an
overall wins-losses record of 27-5, and the team was a perfect 5-0 in district play; and
WHEREAS, the distinguished performances of the members of the Catholic High
School Lady Hornets softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason have
earned them the coveted 2019 Division IV championship; and
WHEREAS, each of the Lady Hornets performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital contributions to
the winning effort:  seniors Sarah Andre, LeeAnn Armond, Kaitley Fisher, Camryn Lamkin,
and Kailynn LeBlanc; junior Maecie Vince; sophomores Blaire Bizette and Adelyn Fisher;
freshmen Isabel Guerin, Kaylin Jarreau, Maddie Jarreau, Katilyn Johnson, Joelle LeBlanc,
and Claire Rivet; and eighth grader Hannah Dugas; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Lady Hornets during this unforgettable
season would not have been possible without the guidance and skills of head coach Lauren
Doucet, assistant coaches Kimberly Gaspard, John Niland, and Brittney Olinde; manager
Taylor Bonaventure; trainer Anne Johnson; principal Colleen Caillet and assistant principal
Fran Olinde; and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the
school's softball program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Hornets, and all Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee alumni and fans recognize the
immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee softball team upon winning the 2019
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division IV state championship and does
hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine
softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success
in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Coach Lauren Doucet.
