HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61
BY REPRESENTATIVE DUBUISSON
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To urge and request each state agency to offer interviews to each qualified veteran who
applies to fill a job vacancy at the agency.
WHEREAS, transitioning from a military to a civilian career can be challenging for
veterans; and
WHEREAS,  military personnel are often cross-trained in multiple skills and have
experience in varied tasks and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, since teamwork is considered an essential part of military life and is the
foundation on which safe military operations are built,  many veterans are equipped to work
well in a team; and
WHEREAS, other desirable traits that a veteran brings to the workplace include
integrity, loyalty, leadership skills, organizational skills, discipline, and the ability to work
under stress; and
WHEREAS, hiring a veteran can result in the hiring of a dedicated employee who
is a valuable asset to the workplace and to the state and its citizens.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
urge and request each state agency to offer interviews to each qualified veteran who applies
to fill a job vacancy at the agency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Concurrent Resolution be
transmitted to the Department of State Civil Service, the division of administration, and to
the executive head of each state agency.
