COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Northwestern State University's chapter of Alpha
Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society on receiving the Order of the Torch award
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Northwestern State University's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman
3 honor society on receiving the Order of the Torch award.
4 WHEREAS, the mission of Alpha Lambda Delta is to encourage superior academic
5achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote
6intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in
7recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society; and
8 WHEREAS, founded in 1965, the Northwestern State University chapter has over
9fifty-three years of service on campus; and
10 WHEREAS, the Order of the Torch award is the organization's highest honor and
11recognizes the most outstanding chapters in the nation; judging is based on chapter
12involvement, chapter communication, campus visibility and presentation; and
13 WHEREAS, there are two hundred and eighty chapters nationwide, and
14Northwestern State University was one of three to win this award.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Northwestern State University's chapter of
17Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society on receiving the Order of the Torch award;
18does hereby recognize the group for its service and leadership; and does hereby offer best
19wishes for success in all its future endeavors.
