HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 12

A RESOLUTION
To commend Northwestern State University's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman
honor society on receiving the Order of the Torch award.
WHEREAS, the mission of Alpha Lambda Delta is to encourage superior academic
achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote
intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in
recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1965, the Northwestern State University chapter has over
fifty-three years of service on campus; and
WHEREAS, the Order of the Torch award is the organization's highest honor and
recognizes the most outstanding chapters in the nation; judging is based on chapter
involvement, chapter communication, campus visibility and presentation; and
WHEREAS, there are two hundred and eighty chapters nationwide, and
Northwestern State University was one of three to win this award.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Northwestern State University's chapter of
Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society on receiving the Order of the Torch award;
does hereby recognize the group for its service and leadership; and does hereby offer best
wishes for success in all its future endeavors.
