ENROLLED 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 132 BY REPRESENTATIVE JACKSON A RESOLUTION To commend L.C. Bonner for receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. WHEREAS, for fifty-nine years, L.C. Bonner tried to track down the medals he earned while serving in the Army; and WHEREAS, the Korean War veteran spent several years stationed in different parts of Europe and did not know he had earned the medals until he was medically discharged; and WHEREAS, for years, Mr. Bonner tried asking about the medals, but always hit a dead end; and WHEREAS, on Monday, April 29, he received a package in the mail that was the surprise of a lifetime; inside was a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal, two awards that had eluded him for more than half a century; and WHEREAS, one of the oldest military awards of the United States Armed Forces, the Good Conduct Medal is awarded for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity in active service; the National Defense Service Medal is the oldest service medal currently awarded by all branches of the United States Armed Forces and is awarded to those who served on active duty during four specific time periods, including the Korean War; and WHEREAS, the awards recognize L.C. Bonner's tireless work and serve as a reminder of the great memories he made serving the country he loves. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend L.C. Bonner for receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal; does hereby commend his outstanding Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 132 ENROLLED service to his country and his patience and tenacity in receiving the awards he rightfully earned; and does hereby recognize and record for posterity the immense pride and honor he brings to the state of Louisiana and the United States of America.
