ENROLLED 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 136 BY REPRESENTATIVE COX A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson. WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the House of Representatives learned of the death of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson, on May 4, 2019, at the age of eighty-one; and WHEREAS, Emma Louise Patterson Johnson was born on July 22, 1937, to Whit Patterson and Beatrice Patsy Lyles; and WHEREAS, Emma Louise Johnson devoted her life to her family and to her church, First Baptist Church in Natchitoches; Ms. Johnson enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, watching game shows, and playing bingo; and WHEREAS, family was a high priority and she spent many days caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Patsy Ward Hoover, and her husband Edward; sons, Walter, and his wife Carol, Perry Joe, and his wife Shelia, Larry, and his wife Diane, Paul, and his wife Catherine, Ronnie, and his wife Deborah, and Donnie, and his wife Zendra; sisters, Eartis and Orelia, and her husband Leon; twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends; and WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and woman of faith; her passing leaves a void in the lives of her family, friends, and community; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 136 ENROLLED WHEREAS, all those who know and loved her can take solace in the knowledge that Ms. Johnson is absent from the body and present with the Lord. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express condolences upon the death of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson, does hereby express heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends, and does hereby extend thoughts and wishes for peace in this time of sorrow and hopes for fond and lasting memories.
