HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 139
BY REPRESENTATIVES BERTHELOT, BACALA, BRASS, AND SCHEXNAYDER
A RESOLUTION
To commend the St. Amant High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana
High School Athletic Association Class 5A state championship.
WHEREAS, the St. Amant High School softball team completed a sensational 2019
season, earning the title of Class 5A state champions; and
WHEREAS, St. Amant's victory over Barbe on Saturday, April 27, 2019, marked the
Lady Gators' sixth state title, first title game since 2006, and first state championship in
nearly fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Gators completed their season with an overall record of 28-2-
1; and
WHEREAS, the distinguished performance of the entire St. Amant Gators softball
team throughout the regular season and the postseason has earned them the Class 5A
championship title; and
WHEREAS, each of the following Gators performed at the highest level of
excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital
contributions to the winning effort: Jesse Allison, Baleigh Bentivegna, Rylie Boudreaux,
Addie Bourgeois, Meghan Boutwell, Caterina Byars, Eva Crochet, Lauren Crochet, Marie
Crochet, Carmen Dixon, Kailey Dufour, Payton Granier, Chandler Guedry, Sydney Hughes,
Kendyl Kerr, Julia Kramer, Harleigh Lemonds, Addiston Mahoney, Kelsi Martine, Kaylee
Parker, Naylie Rodriguez, Alyssa Romano, Rylee Rossi, Sophie Smith, Kyra Sorenson, and
Shelby Whittington; and
WHEREAS, the Gators' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would not
have been possible without the guidance and skills of head coach Amy Pitre, coaches John
Bentivegna, Jay Brignac, Darrel Landry, and Mark Maher; statistician Misty Whittington;

and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's softball
program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Gators, and all St. Amant High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the St. Amant High School softball team
upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state
championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone
involved with this fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and
prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Coach Amy Pitre.
