COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Bossier Parish Community College for its GOLD
distinction as a Military Friendly School
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Bossier Parish Community College for earning the 2019-2020 Military
3 Friendly School designation and the GOLD distinction.
4 WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has earned the Military
5Friendly School designation for eight consecutive years; BPCC is the only postsecondary
6education institution in Louisiana to earn the GOLD distinction, indicating a continued
7commitment to our nation's heroes; and
8 WHEREAS, the list of GOLD distinction schools serves as a guide for veterans and
9their families, helping them choose the best school to achieve their academic goals; and
10 WHEREAS, in the fall of 2018, under the leadership of Susan Stakes, BPCC Veteran
11Educational Services opened the Veterans Resource Center, the first of its kind in north
12Louisiana, established to help meet the educational needs of military men and women and
13their families; and
14 WHEREAS, it is only fitting and appropriate that BPCC be recognized for its service
15to veterans and their families.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bossier Parish Community College for
18earning the 2019-2020 Military Friendly School designation and the GOLD distinction and
19does hereby commend the institution for making meeting the needs of veterans and their
20families a high priority.
