HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 160

A RESOLUTION
To commend Bossier Parish Community College for earning the 2019-2020 Military
Friendly School designation and the GOLD distinction.
WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has earned the Military
Friendly School designation for eight consecutive years; BPCC is the only postsecondary
education institution in Louisiana to earn the GOLD distinction, indicating a continued
commitment to our nation's heroes; and
WHEREAS, the list of GOLD distinction schools serves as a guide for veterans and
their families, helping them choose the best school to achieve their academic goals; and
WHEREAS, in the fall of 2018, under the leadership of Susan Stakes, BPCC Veteran
Educational Services opened the Veterans Resource Center, the first of its kind in north
Louisiana, established to help meet the educational needs of military men and women and
their families; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and appropriate that BPCC be recognized for its service
to veterans and their families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bossier Parish Community College for
earning the 2019-2020 Military Friendly School designation and the GOLD distinction and
does hereby commend the institution for making the needs of veterans and their families a
high priority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Susan
Stakes.
