HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18
BY REPRESENTATIVE CARPENTER
A RESOLUTION
To designate Wednesday, April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton
Rouge Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women was launched on October
24, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the local chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, the
100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge, was chartered on November 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the mission of 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge is to
advocate for the interests of black women and girls; and
WHEREAS, further, the mission of 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge
is to develop leaders who will promote the cause of gender equity in the areas of health,
education, and the economy; and
WHEREAS, 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge is working to create,
develop, and execute programs that promote its mission in Baton Rouge and surrounding
areas; and
WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the 100 Black Women
of Metropolitan Baton Rouge have declared April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of
Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 17, 2019, as 100 Black
Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend the
100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge for its service to black women and girls in
the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.
