ENROLLED 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 199 BY REPRESENTATIVE POPE A RESOLUTION To commend Kenny Sharpe on his retirement after forty-one years of dedicated service with the LSU Agricultural Center. WHEREAS, Kenny Sharpe first joined the LSU Agricultural Center in 1978 as an assistant county 4-H agent in Ascension Parish; and WHEREAS, he soon moved to Livingston Parish, serving as a 4-H agent until he became county agent in 1988; and WHEREAS, since 1992, he has been the southeast district livestock show manager, coordinating more than five hundred exhibitors and one thousand livestock exhibits; and WHEREAS, to better serve his community, Kenny established: an annual beef tour for Livingston beef producers, the Livingston Forest Landowner Association, and the Livingston Parish farmers market; he also started the first Livingston Parish Mosquito Abatement Program and served as president of the board; and WHEREAS, Kenny received a Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in 1996 and has penned a weekly column for thirty-one years called "Sharpe's Point" on agricultural tips for the Livingston Parish News; and WHEREAS, when Kenny Sharpe officially retires on May 31, 2019, he will have given forty-one years, his entire professional career, to serving the people of Louisiana through the LSU Agricultural Center. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Kenny Sharpe upon the celebration of his retirement after a long and productive career with the LSU Agricultural Center; does hereby Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 199 ENROLLED express enduring gratitude to Kenny Sharpe for his innumerable contributions to the success of farmers, gardeners, and landowners throughout the state; and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued happiness and success in the future.
