HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 20
BY REPRESENTATIVE NANCY LANDRY
A RESOLUTION
To commend the University of Louisiana System on the outstanding job it has done in
strategically planning and delivering a high-quality education to students across the
state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana (UL) System is a family of nine education
institutions serving more than 91,500 students and awarding more than 16,500 degrees
annually; and
WHEREAS, the UL System consists of Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech
University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State
University, Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the
University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of New Orleans; and 
WHEREAS, the UL System is one of the nation's largest postsecondary education
systems and offers a broad spectrum of educational opportunities ranging from technical
training at the associate level to research at the doctoral level; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the UL System is to provide high-quality education that
is cost efficient for both students and taxpayers, enabling students to reach their highest
potential; this is a mission that the system holds very dear and fulfills year after year; and
WHEREAS, operating at the lowest unit cost per student per capita, the UL System
continues to see an increase in the number of students enrolled in and graduating from each
of the nine institutions; and

WHEREAS, the UL System develops young, energetic front-runners who will be the
future leaders of postsecondary education in Louisiana while also pursuing and realizing
cutting-edge innovations that have distinguished its universities as some the most resourceful
in the southern region; and
WHEREAS, the UL System's sixteen-member board of supervisors and nine
university presidents understand that the foundation of economic, workforce, and community
development is human development, and they work tirelessly to develop students to compete
at peak levels with their peers across the country; and
WHEREAS, by 2025, the UL System will produce 150,000 new graduates who are
prepared for life and career success; and
WHEREAS, this aspiration will shape the UL System's efforts to advance
educational attainment statewide, empower the state's citizenry, meet the needs of business
and industry, help Louisiana's economy to grow, and enrich the state's communities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the University of Louisiana System on the
outstanding job it has done in strategically planning and delivering a high-quality education
to students across the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
the president of the University of Louisiana System.
