HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 205

A RESOLUTION
To commend Bishop Dr. Rickey Jones Moore, Sr., on the occasion of his twenty-first
anniversary as pastor of Sunrise Baptist Church.
WHEREAS, Rickey Jones Moore, Sr., earned a bachelor of arts degree from Bishop
College in Dallas, Texas, and received an honorary doctorate degree from Stenson College
in Aiken, South Carolina; he earned a doctor of divinity degree at Inter-Baptist Theological
Seminary in Shreveport and doctorate degrees in ministry and literature from Word of Life
Bible School of Marshall, Texas; on June 28, 2013, bishop-elect Moore was consecrated to
the office of bishop; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Moore is a prolific author who has penned four books: My
Passion for Preaching, Passion for Prayer, Seasoning for the Sermon, and Living Between
the Now and the Not Yet; and
WHEREAS, mentored by Dr. C.A.W. Clark, Sr., who was a master of the pulpit and
influenced generations of preachers, Bishop Moore preached in Dr. Clark's stead at Good
Street Baptist Church in south Dallas on many occasions; he also conducted revivals when
Dr. Clark's health deteriorated; and
WHEREAS, for more than thirty-five years, Bishop Moore has responded to his
Master's call to preach; he has carried the gospel to more than twenty states and the country
of Germany, and his love for God's people, his humbleness, and his passion for the Word of
God is worthy of celebration on the occasion of his twenty-first pastoral anniversary at
Sunrise Baptist Church.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Bishop Dr. Rickey Jones

Moore, Sr., upon the occasion of his twenty-first pastoral anniversary and does hereby
express best hopes and prayers for continued fruitful labors in the vineyard of his Lord.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Bishop Moore.
