COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable James H.
"Jim" Morris for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions
to his district and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris and to express enduring gratitude for his
3 outstanding contributions to the parishes of Bossier and Caddo, and the state of
4 Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana
5 House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, James H. "Jim" Morris is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2008, during which time he has
8fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 1 and the state in an
9honorable and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, a graduate of Smackover High School, Representative Morris received
11a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Henderson State University; and
12 WHEREAS, Representative Morris has been a proud member of the Republican
13Delegation, Rural Caucus, and North Louisiana Delegation; and
14 WHEREAS, Representative Morris's diligent committee service has included serving
15as chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Infrastructure and
16Resources, vice chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment
17and the House Committee on Ways and Means, and a member of the House Committee on
18Appropriations, the House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations, the House
19Executive Committee, the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint

1Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, the Joint
2Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, and the State Bond Commission; and
3 WHEREAS, in 2016, Representative Morris was awarded the coveted Doc Hudson
4Cup, earning the title "Gentleman of the House"; named after the former Representative
5Charles Hudson, it recognizes the legislator who most exemplifies the qualities of decorum,
6respect, humor, and leadership; and
7 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Morris
8has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
9 WHEREAS, James H. "Jim" Morris will forever have a special place in the
10chronicles of the history of Louisiana, for he is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public
11servants; and
12 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
13of his life, Representative Morris merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
14contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
15Louisiana House of Representatives.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris; does
18hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments,
19particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
20has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents
21in the parishes of Bossier and Caddo and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does
22hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his
23intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
25expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Morris for his service to the citizens of
26Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
27body, and does hereby extend to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
28prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
30Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris.
