A RESOLUTION
To commend the Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris and to express enduring gratitude for his
outstanding contributions to the parishes of Bossier and Caddo, and the state of
Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana
House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, James H. "Jim" Morris is a notable public servant who has served with
excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2008, during which time he has
fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 1 and the state in an
honorable and dedicated manner; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Smackover High School, Representative Morris received
a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Henderson State University; and
WHEREAS, Representative Morris has been a proud member of the Republican
Delegation, Rural Caucus, and North Louisiana Delegation; and
WHEREAS, Representative Morris's diligent committee service has included serving
as chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Infrastructure and
Resources, vice chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment
and the House Committee on Ways and Means, and a member of the House Committee on

Appropriations, the House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations, the House
Executive Committee, the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint
Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, the Joint
Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, and the State Bond Commission; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, Representative Morris was awarded the coveted Doc Hudson
Cup, earning the title "Gentleman of the House"; named after the former Representative
Charles Hudson, it recognizes the legislator who most exemplifies the qualities of decorum,
respect, humor, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Morris
has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
WHEREAS, James H. "Jim" Morris will forever have a special place in the
chronicles of the history of Louisiana, for he is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public
servants; and
WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
of his life, Representative Morris merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
Louisiana House of Representatives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris; does
hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments,
particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents
in the parishes of Bossier and Caddo and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does
hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his
intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Morris for his service to the citizens of
Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
body, and does hereby extend to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
prosperity and success in his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Honorable James H. "Jim" Morris.
