HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 253
BY REPRESENTATIVE LARVADAIN
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death of Paulette Arlene
Williams.
WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives were saddened to learn
of the death of Paulette Arlene Williams on April 22, 2019, at the age of sixty-two; and
WHEREAS, born in New Orleans on November 6, 1956, to Reverend Dr. Howard
L. Williams and Delores S. Williams, Paulette graduated from Peabody High School in
Rapides Parish and earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and several
certificates in special education; she furthered her education at Northwestern State
University where she earned a master's plus thirty; and
WHEREAS, on May 4, 1985, Paulette was united in holy matrimony to Scott E.
Perry; they were blessed with two beautiful daughters; and
WHEREAS, Paulette was employed by the Allen Parish school system as a special
education teacher and was promoted to special education supervisor; and
WHEREAS, after a commendable career in shaping the minds of the youth of Allen
Parish, Paulette retired after thirty-four years and subsequently began consulting for the
school system; and
WHEREAS, Paulette was active in several organizations including the National
Education Association, Peabody Alumni, and Grambling Alumni; she was local president
of the National Auxiliary of University Women and president of the Deerfield Association;
and
WHEREAS, Paulette accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by her father
at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her service until the time of
her transition; as a child, she was active in the youth junior choir and Sunshine Band; as an

adult, she attended Sunday school, served as a vacation bible school teacher, and was a
faithful member of the usher board until her health began to decline; and
WHEREAS, she leaves to mourn with loving memories: her devoted husband, Scott
E. Perry; daughters, Tamesha Abram, and her husband Larry, and Kia Clifton, and her
husband Will; grandchildren, Brayden and Bryce Abram and Kianna and Kiasia Clifton;
sister Lynette Muse; mother- and father-in-law, Doris and Scott Perry; and aunts, in-laws,
godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and
WHEREAS, after a life of educating the youth of Allen Parish, Paulette Williams
answered the call of her Master depicted in scripture; it is fitting to herald the positive
impact Paulette made upon the lives of many in Allen Parish, and with her passing,
Louisiana mourns the loss of one of her finest daughters.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its deepest and most sincere condolences upon
the death of Paulette Arlene Williams; does hereby acknowledge her life's work with the
youth of Allen Parish; and does hereby extend prayers and hopes for peace and comfort to
those who remain.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Paulette Arlene Williams.
