COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Notre Dame High School softball team on winning
the 2019 Division III state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Notre Dame High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association Division III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, the Notre Dame High School softball team
5completed a truly sensational 2019 season, earning the title of Louisiana High School
6Athletic Association Division III state champions; and
7 WHEREAS, Notre Dame's 7-3 victory over Holy Savior Menard was the Lady
8Pioneers' second consecutive state title, and the win marked the completion of a perfect 32-0
9overall record, 8-0 in the district; and
10 WHEREAS, in the title game, freshman catcher Maci Bergeron continued her game-
11changing play that had been evident all season long; she belted a three-run homer in the
12bottom of the second inning and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player; and
13 WHEREAS, the unparalleled performances of all the athletes on Notre Dame High
14School's softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason have earned them
15the Division III title; and
16 WHEREAS, each of the following Lady Pioneers performed at the highest level of
17excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital
18contributions to the winning effort: seniors Makenzie Abshire, Anna-Beth Gotte, Haley
19Maloz, and Sydnei Simon; juniors Riley Adams, Ellen Brown, and Amy Daigle; sophomores
20Morgan Alleman, Jill Bourgeois, and Katie Brouillette; and freshmen Maci Bergeron,

1Natalie Brown, Sara Boulet, Katherine Gotte, Caylyn Henry, Anne Hundley, Maddie
2Murrell, and Abigail Savoie; and
3 WHEREAS, the Pioneers' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would
4not have been possible without the guidance and skills of head coach Dale Serie, assistant
5coaches Alex Chapman and Kyle Lebeouf, manager Corine Poncho, team trainer Jim
6Dorotics, and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's
7softball program; and
8 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
9Pioneers, and all Notre Dame High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
10distinguished honor the team brings to its school and community.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
12Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Notre Dame High School softball team
13upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III state
14championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone
15involved with this fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and
16prepare for continued success in the future.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
18Coach Dale Serie.
