HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 267

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Notre Dame High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana
High School Athletic Association Division III state championship.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, the Notre Dame High School softball team
completed a truly sensational 2019 season, earning the title of Louisiana High School
Athletic Association Division III state champions; and
WHEREAS, Notre Dame's 7-3 victory over Holy Savior Menard was the Lady
Pioneers' second consecutive state title, and the win marked the completion of a perfect 32-0
overall record, 8-0 in the district; and
WHEREAS, in the title game, freshman catcher Maci Bergeron continued her game-
changing play that had been evident all season long; she belted a three-run homer in the
bottom of the second inning and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player; and
WHEREAS, the unparalleled performances of all the athletes on Notre Dame High
School's softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason have earned them
the Division III title; and
WHEREAS, each of the following Lady Pioneers performed at the highest level of
excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital
contributions to the winning effort: seniors Makenzie Abshire, Anna-Beth Gotte, Haley
Maloz, and Sydnei Simon; juniors Riley Adams, Ellen Brown, and Amy Daigle; sophomores
Morgan Alleman, Jill Bourgeois, and Katie Brouillette; and freshmen Maci Bergeron,
Natalie Brown, Sara Boulet, Katherine Gotte, Caylyn Henry, Anne Hundley, Maddie
Murrell, and Abigail Savoie; and

WHEREAS, the Pioneers' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would
not have been possible without the guidance and skills of head coach Dale Serie, assistant
coaches Alex Chapman and Kyle Lebeouf, manager Corine Poncho, team trainer Jim
Dorotics, and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's
softball program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Pioneers, and all Notre Dame High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor the team brings to its school and community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Notre Dame High School softball team
upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III state
championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone
involved with this fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and
prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Coach Dale Serie.
