HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 292

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association, Incorporated,
upon its fifth annual Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
and Banquet.
WHEREAS, it is fitting to commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni
Association, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization, on its fifth annual Scotlandville High
School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet, to be held on Saturday, August 17,
2019; and
WHEREAS, the esteemed Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association,
Incorporated, was organized in 1999 with the admirable goal of strengthening ties and
contacts between Scotlandville Magnet High School and its alumni; and
WHEREAS, the alumni association has directed its efforts to promoting a spirit of
unity and camaraderie among alumni through communications, reunions, and social
programs; and
WHEREAS, the alumni association actively supports student activities to diversify
the educational experiences available at Scotlandville Magnet High School and other public
schools by providing supplemental funding to both academic and athletic programs; and
WHEREAS, the 2019 inductees to the Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame are
1965 graduates Washington Cummings and Gerald Handy; 1966 graduates Kirk Clayton and
Earnest Jackson; 1968 graduate Mildred S. Carrethers; and 1971 graduates Robert McKinnis
and Donald Ruth, alumni of great distinction whose contributions to the Baton Rouge
community have been innumerable and are worthy of special acknowledgment; and
WHEREAS, the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association,
Incorporated, has diligently worked to promote the identity and recognition of Scotlandville

Magnet High School throughout the city of Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana while
encouraging fellowship and involvement within the greater Scotlandville community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets
Alumni Association, Incorporated, for its prestigious work in the community and for
honoring the distinguished alumni, faculty, and administrators of Scotlandville Magnet High
School on the occasion of its fifth annual Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony and Banquet on August 17, 2019.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
president of the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association.
