ENROLLED 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 314 BY REPRESENTATIVE CREWS A RESOLUTION To urge and request the Department of Public Safety, office of state police, to study methods of enhancing security measures at the Governor's Mansion. WHEREAS, the Governor's Mansion should be one of the most secure buildings in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the Governor's Mansion houses the highest elected official in the state and his family; and WHEREAS, shortly before 6:00 o'clock in the morning on April 17, 2019, an intruder was found in the Governor's Mansion asleep on the couch; and WHEREAS, a breach of security should never occur in a building housing the state's top elected official; and WHEREAS, although the Governor indicated that he and his family were never at risk, this incident exposed flaws in the security protocols currently in place at the Governor's Mansion; and WHEREAS, it is imperative that these security measures are reviewed and evaluated to assess the vulnerability of the mansion and to identify the security standards necessary to ensure that the leader of the state of Louisiana and his family are safe and secure while occupying the Governor's Mansion. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, to study methods of enhancing security measures at the Governor's Mansion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, shall submit a report, that includes a risk and vulnerability Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 314 ENROLLED assessment, along with methods of improving security of the building, detailing the results of its study and its recommendations to the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana no later than February 1, 2020.
