HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72

A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Marc Dupuy,
Jr.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., on Friday,
April 19, 2019, at the age of ninety-one; and
WHEREAS, born to Marc, Sr., and Naide Sinclair Dupuy on November 11, 1927,
Marc earned his bachelor's degree and juris doctor degree from Louisiana State University;
and
WHEREAS, a native of Marksville, Mr. Dupuy served his country proudly in the
United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, he was a practicing attorney for over sixty-five years; Marc was a
lifelong, avid sportsman and pilot and a dedicated wildlife conservationist and geologist; and
WHEREAS, ever active in his community, in 1986 he was named Avoyellean of the
Year for his involvement in the creation of five wildlife management and wildlife refuge
areas in Louisiana and his role on several volunteer boards; the award is presented annually
to an Avoyelles Parish resident for his countless, unselfish deeds; for many years he
faithfully supported the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, Louisiana Forestry Association,
Nature Conservancy, and other wildlife organizations; and
WHEREAS, Marc worked with numerous organizations, including the
Archaeological Survey and Antiquities Commission, Red River Waterway Commission, Red
River Valley Association, Boy Scouts of America, and Public Affairs Research Council; and

WHEREAS, Marc Dupuy, Jr., leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of
sixty-seven years, George Alice DeCuir Dupuy; daughters, Deborah Dupuy Didier,
Catherine Dupuy Bennett, Pamela Susan Dupuy, and Gwendolyn Alice Dupuy Stutts and
her husband Greg; son, Marc "Buddy" Dupuy, III, and his wife Vicki; brother, Robert S.
Dupuy, and his wife Vickie; grandchildren, Jamie Bennett Brittain, Damon Didier, Shanti
Didier Odom, Zachary Bennett, Brandon and Dustin Stutts, and Sarah and Brody Dupuy;
great-grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, and Judah Odom, Will Brittain, II, and Julia and Liam
Didier; and numerous nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., has left a great void and created
a genuine sense of sorrow, his legacy shall forever remain in the minds and hearts of all who
knew and loved this extraordinary man.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and
honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, and community, the
state of Louisiana, and the United States of America.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Marc Dupuy, Jr.
