HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 96

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the New Leaders Council-Louisiana
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the members of the New Leaders Council-Louisiana.
3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the members of the New Leaders Council-
4Louisiana (NLC-Louisiana), a nonprofit leadership development organization dedicated to
5helping young professionals achieve positive, progressive change in Louisiana by providing
6practical skills training at no cost; and
7 WHEREAS, the intention of the work of NLC is to build a nationwide network of
8strong, skilled, progressive political leaders who will go on to build institutions that support
9robust civic and political life; and
10 WHEREAS, founded in 2010, NLC-Louisiana has trained nearly two hundred young
11professionals in communications, organization, finance and fundraising, political
12management, policy development, negotiation, and self-determination; and
13 WHEREAS, NLC-Louisiana alumni have gone on to found nonprofit organizations
14and "for-profit, for-good" businesses, manage political and social issue campaigns, serve in
15high-level government positions, and serve as elected officials; and
16 WHEREAS, NLC-Louisiana's class of 2019 fellows are the most diverse in the
17history of the organization, hailing from all corners of the state of Louisiana and representing
18multiple industries, professions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations; and
19 WHEREAS, the class of 2019 fellows and the alumni of NLC-Louisiana bring
20tremendous honor and pride to the state of Louisiana.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the New Leaders
3Council-Louisiana and does hereby express enduring appreciation to the members for their
4dedication to working towards positive change in the state of Louisiana.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Evan
6J. Bergeron.
