ENROLLED 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97 BY REPRESENTATIVES JEFFERSON AND TURNER A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Kendra LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the House of Representatives have learned of the death of Kendra Butler, and her son Remington; and WHEREAS, in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 25, 2019, a tornado caused significant damage and widespread devastation to the city of Ruston and Lincoln Parish; Kendra and Remington were in their Evans Street home when a tree fell on it, claiming the lives of a thirty-five-year-old mother of two and her fourteen-year-old son; and WHEREAS, born on November 28, 1983, in Independence, Kendra LaShae Butler was a full-time student pursuing a master of sports administration degree at Grambling State University while she worked full-time at Squire Creek Country Club; and WHEREAS, Kendra was full of life, energetic, and ambitious; her children's happiness and welfare were her top priorities; and WHEREAS, her beloved son, Remington, was born in Shreveport on April 29, 2004; he was a robust, athletic, and handsome young man; a freshman at Ruston High School, Remington was a star basketball player; and WHEREAS, they leave to cherish their memories a son and older brother, Cameron Murphy; and WHEREAS, the deaths of Kendra LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler have left a tremendous void in the lives of their fellow citizens who will never forget these vibrant Louisianians. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 97 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the deaths of Kendra LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler of Ruston; does hereby record for posterity their outstanding achievements; and does hereby recognize that the memories of Kendra and Remington will live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew them and whose lives they touched with their talents and spirit.
