HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 99
BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH
A RESOLUTION
To commend AMIkids Baton Rouge on its fiftieth year of guiding troubled youth into
positive, productive paths and enabling them to become successful citizens of the
state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, founded in 1969 by Robert Rosoff and Judge Frank Orlando in Fort
Lauderdale, AMIkids has proved itself a valuable ally in the great task of nurturing at-risk
youth; and
WHEREAS, AMIkids' mission is to provide troubled youth with proactive
alternatives to institutional incarceration by offering them a second chance, a new direction,
and caring, guiding hands within a community-based setting; and
WHEREAS, nationally, AMIkids has served and helped transform the lives of more
than 136,000 kids and teens, including more than 12,000 in the state of Louisiana; young
people impacted by AMIkids are able to work their way back into a world of opportunity;
graduates have gone on to earn high school and college diplomas, start small businesses, find
gainful employment, enlist in the military, and serve as loving and nurturing parents; and
WHEREAS, the organization maintains a positive relationship with state agencies,
law enforcement, and the state legislature; and
WHEREAS, holding to its mission, AMIkids continues to assist youth in "separating
a troubled past from a bright future".
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend AMIkids Baton Rouge on its fiftieth year
of guiding troubled youth into positive, productive paths and enabling them to become
successful citizens of the state of Louisiana and does hereby recognize this worthy

organization for providing loving, practical assistance and hope for the future to so many at-
risk young people.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Lolita
Jones, executive director of AMIkids Baton Rouge.
