1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 47:511.4, relative to the registration of commercial motor vehicles; to provide
3 for the assistant secretary of the office of motor vehicles, not later than October 1,
4 2020, to establish, operate, and maintain motor carrier, commercial motor vehicle,
5 and driver information systems and data analysis programs to support safety
6 regulatory and enforcement activities; to provide for suspension, revocation, or
7 refusal to issue or renew the registration of a commercial motor vehicle under certain
8 circumstances; and to provide for related matters.
9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. R.S. 47:511.4 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
11 ยง511.4. Information systems; denial or revocation of registration
12 A. Not later than October 1, 2020, the assistant secretary of the office of
13 motor vehicles shall establish, operate, and maintain motor carrier, commercial
14 motor vehicle, or driver information systems and data analysis programs to
15 support safety regulatory and enforcement activities which comply with the
16 information systems established and operated by the secretary of the United
17 States Department of Transportation pursuant to 49 U.S.C. 31106.
18 B. The failure of an applicant for registration of a commercial motor
19 vehicle to provide information required by the registrar on the application or
20 to provide required support documentation shall be grounds for denial of the
21 application for registration.

1 C. The assistant secretary may suspend, revoke, or refuse to issue or
2 renew the registration, registration card, registration plate, or permit of a
3 commercial motor vehicle if the commercial motor carrier responsible for safety
4 has been prohibited from operating by a federal agency.
