Prefiled pursuant to Article III, Section 2(A)(4)(b)(i) of the Constitution of Louisiana.
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:1025(A), relative to the qualifications for certified medication
3 attendants; to provide for the clarification of citizenship requirements; to provide for
4 the repeal of residency requirements; to provide for minimum qualifications; to make
5 technical corrections; and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 37:1025(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
8 ยง1025. Qualifications of applicants to the drug administration course
9	A. Each person accepted to participate in the drug administration course shall
10 be a citizen of the United States and a resident of this state and in addition:
11	(1) A citizen of the United States, a United States national, or an alien
12 lawfully admitted for permanent residency in the United States.
13	(2) Must be employed Employed in a facility operated by the office for
14 citizens with developmental disabilities, in a community home for persons with
15 developmental disabilities funded through the Louisiana Department of Health or the
16 Department of Children and Family Services, or in an intermediate care facility for
17 people with developmental disabilities, or be a person who provides in-home
18 Medicaid home- and community-based services.
19	(2)(3) Must be at At least eighteen years of age.
20	(3)(4) Must be able Able to read, write, and comprehend the English
21 language.
22	(4)(5) Must be free Free of communicable diseases and in suitable physical
23 and emotional health to administer medications safely.
