1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:2181(A)(1), relative to the investigation of fire employees;
3 to provide relative to the definition of fire employee; and to provide for related
4 matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 33:2181(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง2181. Applicability; minimum standards during investigation; penalties for failure
8 to comply
9 A. Unless context otherwise requires, the following terms when used in this
10 Subpart shall be given the meanings assigned below:
11 (1) "Fire employee" includes any person employed in the fire department of
12 any municipality, parish, or fire protection district maintaining a full-time regularly
13 paid fire department, regardless of the specific duties of such person within the fire
14 department, and who is under investigation with a view to possible disciplinary
15 action, demotion, or dismissal. "Fire employee" also includes employees of
16 nonprofit corporations under contract with a fire protection district or other
17 political subdivision to provide fire protection services, including operators of
18 the fire-alarm system when such operators are members of the regularly
