SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 104
BY SENATOR BISHOP AND REPRESENTATIVE JACKSON 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Professor Russell Jones for his service and dedication
over the past decade to local governments and the public interest of Louisiana citizens.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Professor Russell Jones for his service and dedication over the past decade to
3 local governments and the public interest of Louisiana citizens.
4 WHEREAS, Professor Jones founded the Southern University Law Center Chapter
5 of the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project in 2009 and serves as its director;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, he was a 1982 magna cum laude graduate of the Southern University
8 Law Center and served as the articles editor of the Southern University Law Review; and
9 WHEREAS, in 1992, Professor Jones earned a Master of Laws degree in labor law
10 from Georgetown University School of Law and teaches courses in criminal law, criminal
11 procedure, and evidence; and
12 WHEREAS, in 2002, he received the Louisiana State Bar Association Stephen T.
13 Victory Award for his article, Louisiana Evidence Article 412.2, and has been selected
14 several times as Professor of the Year by the law center student body; and
15 WHEREAS, Professor Jones is the co-author of two books: Harges and Jones',
16 Louisiana Evidence, 2010 and Harges and Jones', Louisiana Evidence: Problems and
17 Materials; and
18 WHEREAS, he has written several articles on Louisiana evidence and the Fourth

1 Amendment of the United States Constitution, and was named the 2010 Distinguished
2 Professor by the Louisiana Bar Foundation; and
3 WHEREAS, in April, 2010, Professor Jones was awarded the Louis A. Martinet
4 Legal Foundation Outstanding Community Service Award, and in September, 2009, he
5 received the Kean Miller Diversity Achievement Award; and
6 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities,
7 and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like
8 Professor Russell Jones.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
10 commend Professor Russell Jones for his exceptional career and does hereby extend to him
11 best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Professor Russell Jones.
