2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 104 BY SENATORS BISHOP, BOUDREAUX, CARTER AND PRICE AND REPRESENTATIVE JACKSON A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Professor Russell Jones for his service and dedication over the past decade to local governments and the public interest of Louisiana citizens. WHEREAS, Professor Jones founded the Southern University Law Center Chapter of the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project in 2009 and serves as its director; and WHEREAS, he was a 1982 magna cum laude graduate of the Southern University Law Center and served as the articles editor of the Southern University Law Review; and WHEREAS, in 1992, Professor Jones earned a Master of Laws degree in labor law from Georgetown University School of Law and teaches courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, and evidence; and WHEREAS, in 2002, he received the Louisiana State Bar Association Stephen T. Victory Award for his article, Louisiana Evidence Article 412.2, and has been selected several times as Professor of the Year by the law center student body; and WHEREAS, Professor Jones is the co-author of two books: Harges and Jones', Louisiana Evidence, 2010 and Harges and Jones', Louisiana Evidence: Problems and Materials; and WHEREAS, he has written several articles on Louisiana evidence and the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution, and was named the 2010 Distinguished Professor by the Louisiana Bar Foundation; and WHEREAS, in April, 2010, Professor Jones was awarded the Louis A. Martinet Legal Foundation Outstanding Community Service Award, and in September, 2009, he received the Kean Miller Diversity Achievement Award; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like Professor Russell Jones. Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 104 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Professor Russell Jones for his exceptional career and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
