SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 118

COMMENDAT IONS. Commends and congratulates the Holy Cross Robotigers upon
winning the 2019 Louisiana State VEX Robotics Championship.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate the Holy Cross Robotigers for winning the 2019 Louisiana
3 State VEX Robotics Championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers were assembled by Head Coach Dale Turner
5 and Assistant Coach Claire Brown; and
6 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers, led by seniors Shane Welch and
7 Sam Miester, juniors Leo Bache and Ryan Cannon, and eighth grader Leiland Fultz,
8 competed on March 3 in the state championships held at St. Paul's School in Covington; one
9 of 44 teams attending from throughout the state; and
10 WHEREAS, VEX Robotics is the leading provider of educational and competitive
11 robotics products to schools, universities, and robotics teams around the world; and
12 WHEREAS, VEX Robotics has more than 16,000 competitive teams in more than
13 40 countries with more than one million student participants; and
14 WHEREAS, a game is played between two "alliances" of two robots that are
15 randomly paired and must outscore their competition; and
16 WHEREAS, played in a 12' by 12' field, the game is intended to be offensive in
17 nature but a defensive strategy is necessary to be successful; and
18 WHEREAS, in competition, points are awarded based on the placement of game

1 pieces during a 15-second autonomous period and a 75-second driver-controlled period; and
2 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers' flawless performance allowed them to be
3 undefeated as they won the 2019 Louisiana State VEX Robotics Championship; and
4 WHEREAS, following the state championship, the Holy Cross Robotigers advanced
5 to the World Competition, a four-day competition where 560 qualifying teams from across
6 the world compete for top honors; and
7 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers and their fans can celebrate an outstanding
8 season where the Robotigers have added another state championship to their record.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
10 commend and congratulate the Holy Cross Robotigers for winning the 2019 Louisiana State
11 VEX Robotics Championship.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Head Coach Dale Turner and Assistant Coach Claire Brown.
