SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 118

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend and congratulate the Holy Cross Robotigers for winning the 2019 Louisiana
State VEX Robotics Championship.
WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers were assembled by Head Coach Dale Turner
and Assistant Coach Claire Brown; and
WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers, led by seniors Shane Welch and
Sam Miester, juniors Leo Bache and Ryan Cannon, and eighth grader Leiland Fultz,
competed on March 3 in the state championships held at St. Paul's School in Covington; one
of 44 teams attending from throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, VEX Robotics is the leading provider of educational and competitive
robotics products to schools, universities, and robotics teams around the world; and
WHEREAS, VEX Robotics has more than 16,000 competitive teams in more than
40 countries with more than one million student participants; and
WHEREAS, a game is played between two "alliances" of two robots that are
randomly paired and must outscore their competition; and
WHEREAS, played in a 12' by 12' field, the game is intended to be offensive in
nature but a defensive strategy is necessary to be successful; and
WHEREAS, in competition, points are awarded based on the placement of game
pieces during a 15-second autonomous period and a 75-second driver-controlled period; and
WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers' flawless performance allowed them to be
undefeated as they won the 2019 Louisiana State VEX Robotics Championship; and
WHEREAS, following the state championship, the Holy Cross Robotigers advanced
to the World Competition, a four-day competition where 560 qualifying teams from across
the world compete for top honors; and

WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Robotigers and their fans can celebrate an outstanding
season where the Robotigers have added another state championship to their record.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Holy Cross Robotigers for winning the 2019 Louisiana State
VEX Robotics Championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Head Coach Dale Turner and Assistant Coach Claire Brown.
