2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 46 BY SENATOR HEWITT A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To designate Thursday, May 9, 2019, as LFCA Fire Chiefs Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association (LFCA) was founded in 1976 and is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization serving as a unified voice for Louisiana's fire department chiefs; and WHEREAS, the LFCA is a statewide member organization that advocates on behalf of 420 chiefs from 202 fire departments; and WHEREAS, the LFCA encompasses nine member districts across the state; and WHEREAS, the mission of the LFCA is to improve the methods of fire prevention, training, protection, and extinguishment, to promote the profession of the fire service, and to maintain high standards of professional ethics among fire chiefs of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the LFCA works to obtain and circulate information of fire administration, prevention, protection, training, and suppression; to encourage study, research, and analysis of all matters relative to the protection and saving of lives and property from the perils of fire and other disasters; to encourage the cooperation and assistance of other organizations in the field of fire prevention and protection; to render whatever assistance possible to other members, individuals, or organizations interested in fire prevention and protection; to promote the fire service in the highest degree of professionalism, and promote the welfare of all Louisiana fire fighters; and to render the citizens the most efficient service possible; and WHEREAS, the LFCA continues to promote fire service by shaping legislation, providing education on fire service issues, and encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences among fire department chiefs throughout the state; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 46 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the LFCA is celebrating forty-three years of advocacy, education, and service; and WHEREAS, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, the LFCA hosts its LFCA Fire Chiefs Day at the capitol celebrating all fire service personnel for their dedication to fire service. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Thursday, May 9, 2019, as "LFCA Fire Chiefs Day" at the state capitol.
