WHEREAS, E. Pete Adams has served continuously as the executive director of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association since January 1, 1973, and as director of the District Attorneys' Retirement System since 1997; and WHEREAS, during his tenure at LDAA, E. Pete Adams has served with 151 different district attorneys; and WHEREAS, E. Pete Adams has participated in 88 Regular and Extraordinary Legislative Sessions since joining the LDAA, during which tenure more than 893,680 bills have been introduced and 33,248 laws have been enacted; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 59 ENROLLED WHEREAS, E. Pete Adams has reviewed, testified, and worked with committees on thousands of pieces of legislation; and WHEREAS, E. Pete Adams has worked with countless stakeholders of the criminal justice system on behalf of the office of the district attorney on vital legislative issues, including but not limited to the passage of a comprehensive Code of Evidence, criminal victims' rights, asset forfeiture and money laundering regulations, juvenile justice reform, and justice reinvestment; and WHEREAS, there were 34 judicial districts when E. Pete Adams took the helm of the LDAA and now there are 42; and WHEREAS, E. Pete Adams has worked tirelessly over the past 46 years to improve Louisiana's justice system and the office of district attorney by enhancing the effectiveness and professionalism of Louisiana's District Attorneys and their staff through education, legislative involvement, liaison, and information sharing; and WHEREAS, the great state of Louisiana is better for E. Pete Adams' service as the executive director of the LDAA. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend E. Pete Adams for 46 years of exemplary public service, congratulate him upon his retirement from the Louisiana District Attorneys Association, and express best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.
