SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 72
BY SENATORS WHITE AND THOMPSON 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Layni LeBlanc on being the first woman from Louisiana to serve as a national
officer of the National Future Farmers of America Organization.
WHEREAS, Layni was elected as the National Future Farmers of America "FFA"
secretary during the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo held October 24-27, 2018, in
Indianapolis, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, Layni is the first Louisiana FFA member elected as a national officer
in thirty-one years, the fifth overall since 1930, and the first female from the state in history;
and
WHEREAS, as a national FFA officer, students are tasked with advocating for
agricultural education and throughout the year they make FFA chapter visits and meet with
agricultural stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, as part of her duties as a national officer, Layni will travel to forty states
and Japan to promote agriculture and the FFA; and
WHEREAS, she will serve the national secretary on a team of five other officers
from different states; and
WHEREAS, with more than six hundred seventy thousand members in all fifty
states, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands, the National FFA Organization has
a strong presence as the largest student-led organization in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Layni is a graduate of Walker High School and is currently a junior
studying animal science at Louisiana State University College of Agriculture and the Honors
College; and
WHEREAS, she has been a member of FFA since her freshmen year of high school
when she decided to take an agriscience class because it was the closest subject that related
to her love of animals; and

WHEREAS, Layni decided to run for national office to build relationships across the
country, to serve with a team of people, and to grow and learn from the members of FFA;
and
WHEREAS, Layni embodies the FFA motto, "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn,
Earning to Live, Living to Serve" and gives other members encouragement as they
experience the opportunities of the organization.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Layni LeBlanc on being the first woman from Louisiana to serve
as a national officer of the National Future Farmers of America Organization.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that her notable accomplishment is hereby recorded
for posterity and that the Legislature of Louisiana also extends enduring appreciation for the
tremendous pride and honor she brings to her family and friends, her community, and the
state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Layni LeBlanc.
