SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 131
BY SENATORS LAMBERT AND ERDEY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and recognize Laine Hardy, a country star who is a one of the top three
finalists on the seventeenth season of American Idol, and to extend best wishes on
continued success.
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Livingston, eighteen-year-old Laine Hardy has
advanced to the top three finalists in the current season of American Idol; it is his second
time appearing on the show; and
WHEREAS, in his time on the program, Laine has flourished in the spotlight of the
national stage, and he has been a wonderful ambassador for the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, his interest in music was piqued when he first picked up a guitar at age
seven; he took guitar lessons into adolescence, but has never had any formal vocal training;
and
WHEREAS, fans from all across the United States recognize the talent in this
exceptional musician, singer, and songwriter, especially through his original songs, "In the
Bayou" and "Louisiana Lady"; and 
WHEREAS, he is a graduate of French Settlement High School and is supported by
his proud parents, Barry and Cindy Hardy; and
WHEREAS, artists like Laine serve as an inspiration to others because of their
steadfast dedication to honing their craft; and
WHEREAS, Laine Hardy and his special talents serve as an example of the
incredible homegrown talent of Louisiana and he merits a heartfelt congratulations.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and recognize Laine Hardy, a country star who is one of the top three
finalists on the seventeenth season of American Idol, express enduring appreciation for the
wonderful way in which his music touches the lives of countless people, and extend to him
best wishes for continued success and happiness in his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Laine Hardy.
