SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152
BY SENATOR JOHNS 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Glen James for fifty years of dedicated service to the West Calcasieu Port.
WHEREAS, Glen James has served as the attorney for the West Calcasieu Port in
Sulphur, Louisiana, since 1969; and
WHEREAS, he is a 1964 graduate of Texas A&M University, received his law
degree from Louisiana State University, and was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in
1969, the same year he began providing legal services to the small fledgling port on the Gulf
Intracoastal Waterway, twelve miles south of Sulphur; and
WHEREAS, Mr. James served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army,
in the Army Reserve for thirteen years, and served one tour in Vietnam; and
WHEREAS, he is a former city attorney for the city of Sulphur and served on the
board of the Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for eleven years;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. James and his wife, Darlene, reside in Sulphur and have five
children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, he was honored on May 7, 2019, with a plaque commemorating fifty
years of dedicated service as the attorney for the port; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like
Glen James; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his many achievements as an attorney, Glen James is a
deeply beloved member of the Sulphur community who has earned the respect and
admiration of the countless citizens whose lives he has touched.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Glen James for fifty years of dedicated service to the West Calcasieu
Port and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all
of his future endeavors.
