SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20

A RESOLUTION
To designate the week of September 3rd through 9th, 2019, as Louisiana Craft Spirits Week
in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Louisiana craft distilleries have been awarded numerous medals and
awards for their superior products; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana is home to one of the oldest continually-operating craft
distilleries in the country; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana supports the resurgence and flourishing of its many new
distilleries across the state; and
WHEREAS, these distilleries make an effort to support and promote the state's
agriculture by using the finest Louisiana-grown products; and
WHEREAS, these distilleries encourage tourism into and throughout the state by
attracting visitors to their facilities and sponsoring impactful events and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, these distilleries support and promote programs, education, and
legislation aimed at responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages and at preventing the
overconsumption of alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, similarly, Louisiana craft distilleries support programs, education, and
legislation aimed at preventing underage consumption of alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, by distilling their products in an ecologically sound manner, these
distilleries have contributed to the preservation of Louisiana's unique environment; and
WHEREAS, by distilling spirits specifically designed to complement and highlight
the state's extraordinary cuisine, Louisiana's distilleries help to support the flourishing and
exporting of Louisiana's rich culture.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby designate the week of September 3rd through 9th, 2019, as "Louisiana Craft
Spirits Week" in Louisiana and commend Louisiana's craft distillers for their many
contributions to the great state of Louisiana.
