SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 227

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Mary Helen Hundley.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
learned of the untimely death of Mary Helen Hundley on May 17, 2019, at the age of twenty-
one; and
WHEREAS, Mary Helen Hundley was a faith-filled young woman who was very
devoted to her Catholic faith and an adorer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Adoration
Chapel; and
WHEREAS, she loved children and was a favorite nanny among many children and
parents in her community, and worked alongside her family at Mo'Crawfish~N~Mowata for
six years; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, Mary Helen graduated from Notre Dame High School of
Acadia Parish and was a gifted athlete who participated in the sports of softball, volleyball,
basketball, and swimming; and
WHEREAS, she graduated in 2019 from Louisiana State University Eunice with a
degree in business and was loved by her family members and countless friends, and was an
amazing role model to many, especially her little sister; and
WHEREAS, Mary Helen is survived by her parents, Michael and Katherine John
Hundley; one sister, Anne Katherine Hundley; six brothers, Michael Charles Hundley Jr.,
John Edward Hundley, Jack Thomas Hundley, Cecillius Joseph "C. J." Hundley II, Christian
Joseph Hundley, and Paul Albert Hundley; one godchild and niece, Eleanor Brooke
Hundley; one nephew, David Michael Hundley; maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Olinger
John; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and

WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rep. John N.
John Jr., and paternal grandparents, C. J. and Annie Hensgens Hundley; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Mary Helen Hundley has left a tremendous void
in her community, her memory shall live forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew
and loved such a kind and beautiful young lady.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Mary Helen
Hundley, record for posterity her outstanding achievements, and extend enduring
appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that she will forever bring to her
community, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Mary Helen Hundley.
