SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 239

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Honorable Ben W. Nevers Sr. for his many years of dedicated and selfless
public service to the people of the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the list of Ben Nevers' achievements is long and illustrious, beginning
with his service on the Bogalusa City School Board, seventeen years of combined legislative
service in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and culminating his formal role as
a public servant as chief of staff for Governor John Bel Edwards; and
WHEREAS, a man of humble beginnings whose hard work, diligence, and intellect
led to great personal and business success, Ben Nevers fully understands the value of a
quality education, the need to provide good jobs for all working men and women, and the
responsibility citizens and government share to take care of the least among us; and
WHEREAS, Ben treats every individual he meets with courtesy and respect, which
enables him to work effectively with all sides of an issue to reach a fair and equitable
solution; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly clear to anyone who talks to, works with, or observes
Ben that his honesty and integrity are imprinted upon all he undertakes, and his ultimate goal
is always to serve the greater good; and
WHEREAS, second only to his deeply rooted Christian faith stands his love and
devotion to his family: his wife, Ann, who supports him in all he undertakes, his four
children and their spouses, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, although his official role in the public arena may have ended for now,
we can all rest assured that Ben Nevers is actively involved in a myriad of activities that will
benefit his family, community, and the people of the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby most highly and sincerely commend the Honorable Ben W. Nevers Sr. for his
many years of dedicated and selfless public service to the people of the state of Louisiana.
