SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 243

A RESOLUTION
To commend C.C. "Cat" Cox for his many years of public service and to designate January
ninth of each year in North Webster Parish as C.C. "Cat" Cox Day.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Senate of the Legislature
of Louisiana have learned of the many years of public service that C.C. "Cat" Cox has served
in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the town of Cotton Valley is recognizing community staple C.C. "Cat"
Cox with his own day each year, and the town has future plans to work with the Louisiana
Department of Transportation to rename a part of Highway 371 in Cotton Valley in his
honor; and 
WHEREAS, C.C. "Cat" Cox, has served, at ninety years of age, as an alderman for
Cotton Valley for twelve years, Mayor Pro-Tem for two years, and has been on the Housing
Authority Board since 2018; and
WHEREAS, C.C. "Cat" Cox went to work for the town of Cotton Valley on
December 15, 1958; and
WHEREAS, first serving as a Cotton Valley police officer then as the chief of police
for twenty-six years, he served more than twenty years as a Webster Parish Police Juror and
forty-six years as a member of the Community Action Board, and as a Webster Parish school
bus driver; and
WHEREAS, he is an outstanding and highly admired citizen of Louisiana who
continues to work tirelessly on a multitude of civic, political, and religious causes in the
community of Cotton Valley, has served in an advisory capacity on other community boards,
and is a successful fundraising advocate; and
WHEREAS, he has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixty-five years, First
Baptist Church for sixty-two years, and married to his loving and devoted wife, Lorice, for
seventy years; and

WHEREAS, he credits his years of public service for having a good life and still
keeping him going at ninety years old.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend C.C. "Cat" Cox for his many years of public service and designate
January ninth of each year in North Webster Parish as C.C. "Cat" Cox Day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
C.C. "Cat" Cox.
