2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 246 BY SENATORS LAMBERT AND ERDEY A RESOLUTION To commend Laine Hardy on becoming the Season 17 American Idol winner. WHEREAS, Laine Hardy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on September 12, 2000, and raised in Livingston, Louisiana, by his parents, Barry and Cindy Hardy; and WHEREAS, he has a brother, Kyle, and an older sister, Brittany Banta; and WHEREAS, Laine became the Season 17 winner of American Idol after a nationwide live vote; and WHEREAS, while on American Idol, Laine flourished in the spotlight of the national stage and became an ambassador for the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Laine's interest in music was piqued when he picked up a guitar at the tender age of seven; and WHEREAS, he took guitar lessons into adolescence but never received any formal vocal training; and WHEREAS, fans from across the United States of America recognized the talent in this exceptional musician, singer, and songwriter, especially through his original songs, "In the Bayou" and "Louisiana Lady"; and WHEREAS, he is a graduate of French Settlement High School and is supported by his proud parents, his family, the Livingston community, and the citizens of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, artists like Laine serve as an inspiration to others because of their steadfast dedication to honing their craft, and his special talents serve as an example of the incredible homegrown talent of Louisiana; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 246 ENROLLED WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished youth like Laine Hardy, a model citizen who represents the best and brightest of the state; and WHEREAS, Laine Hardy, one of Louisiana's finest sons, merits the highest commendation and most sincere congratulations upon becoming the Season 17 American Idol winner. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Laine Hardy on becoming the Season 17 American Idol winner, does hereby record for posterity the pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, the community of Livingston, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
