Senate rule which authorizes designation or referral of certain former senators. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To adopt Rule No. 5.7 of the Rules of Order of the Senate, to authorize certain designation 3 or referral of certain former members of the Senate. 4 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that Section 5.7 of 5 the Rules of Order of the Senate is hereby adopted to read as follows: 6 Rule 5.7. Designation of or referral to certain former senators 7 A. A former senator may be designated or referred to as "Senator 8 Retired, District No." followed by the number of the Senatorial District 9 represented. 10 B. "Former senator" as used in this Rule, means a former senator who 11 served in the Senate and, because of this service, was prohibited by Article III, 12 Section 4(E) of the Constitution of Louisiana from being elected to the Senate. Defines "former senator" as a former senator who served in the Senate and, because of this service, was prohibited by Article III, Section 4(E) of the La. Constitution from being elected to the Senate. Changes the applicability of being considered a "former senator" from senators who have served 12 years to senators who have served for any period of time.
