SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 52
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Charles Cravins upon his induction into the St. Landry Parish
Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, Charles is the son of the late Armas and Edmonia Cravins; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins is married to Mona Gobert Cravins, the father of four;
Monique, Charlotte, Ali, and Alex, and the beaming grandfather of four; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins has an extensive resume of public service in Louisiana,
having started in the early 1990s, as the Regional Director and Governmental Affairs
Coordinator for the Fourth Congressional District followed by an appointment as Chief
Administrative Officer of the St. Landry Parish District Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins attended Southern University Law Center, where he was
selected to the prestigious Southern University Law Review, an honor reserved for the
school's top students while working full time in the St. Landry Parish District Attorney's
Office; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins achieved a grade of "A" in twenty-seven of the thirty-two
classes he took in law school, graduated Magna Cum Laude, and was admitted to the
practice of law after successfully passing the bar on his first attempt; and
WHEREAS, since 2007 Mr. Cravins has served as Assistant District Attorney and
has been lead trial attorney in roughly two hundred matters, including civil and criminal
cases before various courts, including federal court and Louisiana district courts, and city
courts; and 
WHEREAS, he has argued before the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Third
Circuit, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and successfully before the
Louisiana Supreme Court; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins has served as adjunct professor at Southern University Law

Center, is president of Cravins Trosclair, A Professional Law Corporation which focuses on
complex litigation, has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Health
Education Authority of Louisiana, and represents District Forty on the Democratic Party
State Central Committee; and
WHEREAS, with his running buddy, partner, and colleague, Frank Trosclair, he has
served as counsel to numerous St. Landry Parish grand juries over the last eleven years; and
WHEREAS, every Sunday you can hear his voice on the radio as he co-hosts the
Cravins Brothers Zydeco and Information Show along with his brother and nephew, through
which they provide music, laughs, important social and political information, and news; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins serves the public with sincere, courageous conviction and
is willing to assist all people regardless of their current status in life and the community; and 
WHEREAS, because Mr. Cravins believes everyone has a right to be heard and that
justice should serve everyone, he is a strong advocate for fair and equal policies for the good
of the people; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cravins' knowledge, experience, trustworthiness, and reputation for
fearlessness is considered the reasons why he was appointed to our current governor's
transition team; and 
WHEREAS, the St. Landry Democratic Parish Executive Committee annually names
persons of high ethical and moral character who have promoted the principles of
constitutional equality, personal liberty, economic opportunity, and government and fiscal
responsibility whose impact has positively influenced the entire parish and the state; and 
WHEREAS, the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, who is then considered to
be a member of the St. Landry Democratic Party Hall of Fame, is also a person who
recognizes and respects the diversity of all Americans and promotes the common unity of
all, leading the political party and displaying strong leadership throughout their career; and 
WHEREAS, Charles Cravins has demonstrated a devotion to all of these principles
of the St. Landry Democratic Party with a lifetime of efforts championing these principles
that are so essential to the ideas of American democracy; and 
WHEREAS, during the Lifetime Achievement Banquet, held on March 26, 2019,
Charles Cravins was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Charles Cravins upon his induction into the
St. Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Charles Cravins.
