SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz upon his induction into the St.
Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, Sheriff Guidroz graduated from Port Barre High School in 1972,
graduated from the Louisiana State Police Training Academy in 1979, graduated from the
FBI National Academy in Qunatico, Virginia in 1994, and has earned numerous hours of
additional training in various forms of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Guidroz, who is married to Karen M. Guidroz, is the father of
three: Laynee, Brad, and Dustin, and the proud grandfather of nine; and
WHEREAS, in 1979 Sheriff Guidroz became a Louisiana State Trooper, eventually
having attained the rank of lieutenant and other positions as the Supervisor of State Police
Uniform, Gaming Enforcement, Criminal and Administrative Investigative Sections, State
Police Spokesperson, and Supervisor of the Public Affairs Information Section; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Guidroz retired from the Louisiana State Police in 2005; and
WHEREAS, in 2006 he was elected the Sheriff of St. Landry Parish; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Guidroz has over forty years of experience in the field of law
enforcement and criminal justice with a record of continuous dedicated service,
achievements, and professional advancement in a complex environment; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Guidroz says his future plans are to "Stay Sheriff as long as the
people want me to!"; and
WHEREAS, the St. Landry Democratic Parish Executive Committee annually names
persons of high ethical and moral character who have promoted the principles of
constitutional equality, personal liberty, economic opportunity, and government and fiscal
responsibility whose impact has positively influenced the entire parish and the state; and

WHEREAS, the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, who is then considered to
be a member of the St. Landry Democratic Party Hall of Fame, is also a person who
recognizes and respects the diversity of all Americans and promotes the common unity of
all, leading the political party and displaying strong leadership throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz has demonstrated a devotion to all of these
principles of the St. Landry Democratic Party with a lifetime of efforts championing these
principles that are so essential to the ideas of American democracy; and
WHEREAS, during the Lifetime Achievement Banquet, held on March 26, 2019,
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz upon his induction into
the St. Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz.
