SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 56
BY SENATOR WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To designate Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as "Winn-Dixie Day at the legislature" and to
commend Winn-Dixie for its commitment to Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and gratitude that the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana commends Winn-Dixie for its longstanding commitment to Louisiana's economy
and its citizens as exemplified through the grocer's successful endeavors in community
involvement and years of generous charitable contributions; and 
WHEREAS, the neighborhood grocer has consistently reaffirmed its commitment
to customers, associates, and community with partnerships and programs that speak to the
unique values of the Louisiana market for the past sixty-three years; and 
WHEREAS, as one of the top grocers in the nation, Winn-Dixie has employed
working Louisianians in communities throughout the state for decades and continues to
partner with organizations like Urban League of Greater New Orleans to recruit and employ
Louisianians who are ready to make a difference in their community; and 
WHEREAS, the grocer has committed to an ongoing investment in Louisiana's
children through commitments and sponsorships with the Children's Museum of New
Orleans and Girl Scouts of South Louisiana in addition to local schools like Riverdale High
School, Edna Carr High School, and Alice C. Harte Elementary; and 
WHEREAS, following Hurricane Katrina, the neighborhood grocer stood with and
assisted Louisianians with their efforts to rebuild through partnerships with Habitat for
Humanity, SPCA, and United Way; and 
WHEREAS, as a Community Partner to Ochsner Hospital for Children, the grocer
has committed to impacting and improving the quality of life for young Louisianians by
participating in community activities and donating more than $100,000 since 2017; and

WHEREAS, the grocer has maintained an ongoing commitment to less fortunate
Louisianians by donating excess food from area stores to local families and sponsoring food
drives through partnerships with Baton Rouge Food Bank and Second Harvest; and 
WHEREAS, the neighborhood grocer honors the service of Louisiana veterans by
annually donating to veterans in need during Thanksgiving and donating LSU tickets to
veterans for the 2017 Veteran's Day football game; and 
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana and the livelihood of our
communities depend upon businesses like Winn-Dixie, which continues to impact lives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby designate Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as "Winn-Dixie Day at the legislature" and
commend Winn-Dixie for its commitment to Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc.
