SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 64
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
A RESOLUTION
To commend the members of the two Delhi Charter School high school robotics teams on
a record-setting 2018-2019 season.
WHEREAS, team 8892A and team 8892N from Delhi Charter School have earned
a record-setting twenty-one trophies over the course of the season, including five Excellence
Awards, four Tournament Champion Awards, five Tournament Finalist Awards, four Robot
Skills Awards, two Design Awards, and one Build Award; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Senate of the Legislature
of Louisiana have learned of the success of the two Delhi Charter School high school
robotics teams; and
WHEREAS, team 8892A members are Ethan Morris, Wyatt Wiggins, and Kyle
Peters; team 8892N members are Zachary Reddick, Garrett Gray, and Christiaan Smith; and
WHEREAS, team 8892A won the Excellence Award at the Louisiana VEX Robotics
Competition State Championship held in New Orleans, Louisiana, and advanced to the 2019
VEX World Championship held in April 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the Excellence Award is the highest honor of the VEX Robotics
Competition, given for overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program;
and 
WHEREAS, every year, the robotics teams are challenged to develop a robot capable
of achieving a series of tasks and student teams compete against each other as their robots
face off in a series of games and challenges; and
WHEREAS, the robotics teams learn vital science, engineering, and real-life skills
through the challenging task of building a functioning and effective robot that requires the
students to communicate, cooperate, and function as a team; and

WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the two teams at Delhi Charter School
could not be achieved without the guidance and skills of Eric Vidrine, the team's sponsor,
and all of the other individuals who contribute to the success of the high school's robotics
program.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the members of the two Delhi Charter School high school robotics
teams on a record-setting 2018-2019 season; does hereby extend best wishes to the team
members and everyone involved with this fine program as they celebrate their memorable
and historic accomplishments; and does hereby congratulate them on representing the state
of Louisiana in the world championship competition. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Eric
Vidrine, the high school team sponsor at Delhi Charter School and the school's headmaster,
Brett Raley.
